Author Guidelines

PIJoC welcomes manuscripts that make a clear and original contribution to communication scholarship. Authors should review the journal’s Focus and Scope before submitting.

Manuscript Types

  • Original research articles
  • Theoretical and conceptual articles
  • Review articles, including systematic, scoping, integrative, and bibliometric reviews
  • Critical essays
  • Scholarly book reviews

Language and Presentation

Manuscripts should be written in clear academic English. Authors are responsible for language accuracy, logical organization, and consistency of terminology. The title should be concise and informative, and the abstract should stand on its own.

Recommended Manuscript Structure

  • Title: concise, specific, and representative of the study.
  • Abstract: approximately 150–250 words describing the purpose, approach, principal findings or argument, and contribution.
  • Keywords: three to five terms that support discoverability.
  • Main text: organized according to the manuscript type. Empirical studies commonly include an introduction, literature review or theoretical framework, methods, results, discussion, and conclusion.
  • References: complete, accurate, and consistent with APA style. Persistent identifiers such as DOIs should be included when available.

Tables, Figures, and Supplementary Material

Tables and figures must be numbered, titled, cited in the text, and accompanied by source or copyright information where applicable. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material. Supplementary files should be clearly labeled and directly relevant to the manuscript.

Research Integrity

Submissions must be original, not previously published, and not under consideration by another journal. All authors must approve the submission and satisfy accepted authorship criteria. Research involving human participants must follow applicable ethical and institutional requirements, including informed consent and ethical approval where required. Conflicts of interest and sources of funding must be disclosed.

Before Submission

  • Confirm that the manuscript fits PIJoC’s focus and scope.
  • Check that all author names, affiliations, and contact information are accurate.
  • Verify every citation and reference for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure all tables, figures, and supplementary files are correctly labeled.
  • Confirm that required permissions and ethical approvals have been obtained.
  • Review the Editorial Policies.
